Clock Tower, Healdsburg, CA

This is the clock tower on the  historic town square in the charming town of Healdsburg, CA.  Wine tasters pass through this area as part of the tour of wine country.

Winter scene

Here is a landscape, based on my yard, years ago, when I lived in Washington, DC.  It is sunny in California, but the East coast knows about snow!

GRAY ABSTRACT, SECOND OF TWO

Here is the finished version of the second-of-two gray abstract paintings.  The first is already shown in earlier blogs.  You are welcome to compare the two.  Each painting began with an abstract study in pale grays.  Then medium value grays were added, to complete the composition.  Finally, colors were added, as well as textures, temperatures, etc.  The colors are not random, but were chosen to follow the underlying structure and to create an overall harmony with each other.

Oak Creek Canyon Drive, Arizona

This landscape is along the beautiful drive, going south from the Grand Canyon, to Sedona's red rock country.  Note the brilliant red in the soil on the river bank.  That's not an exaggeration.

A Painting Revisited

Today I re-painted this painting, of Arizona's red rock country.  The revised version gives the painting more oomph, with darker shadows and more intense red in the earth.
